Enjoy the interviews, this next one being with Korean band Rock N’ Roll Radio. These guys have a real groovy sound that they’re excited to showcase for all attending their upcoming shows, but that’s not all they’re hyped to do while in the States. Congrats on your tour and playing SXSW! Please introduce yourselves

We are Rock’N’Roll Radio from Seoul, Korea. We are highly influenced by British rock. From that, we’d like to present ourselves in our own way.

How’d Rock N’ Roll Radio get the opportunity to perform at SXSW and what days/times is the band performing?

We’ve done more than 200 shows over the past two years since we started. Maybe because of that we got a call from SeoulSonic, and that’s how we got our slot in SXSW. We perform on 13th at SeoulSonic stage (Icenhauer’s, 11:00 PM-11:40).

Where do you guys get your musical inspiration?

We watch a lot of movies and read novels, especially Stephen King novels. And also from post punk bands from the 70s and the 80s.

I know it can be hard for Korean bands to get the opportunity perform in America. What advice would you give to a band wanting to tour the States?

It’s our first time, so it’s us who need advice. We’re getting great advise from fellow bands like Galaxy Express.

It’s hard for Korean musicians to get notoriety if they don’t have a mainstream Kpop sound. What was it that made people start to notice Rock N’ Roll Radio as a band, and when did you all begin to really get popular?

We participated in a lot of contests over the past two years and won most of them, so we believe that’s when we started getting attention. Since we’re still poor in real life, I guess we’re not that famous yet.

Besides performing and making new fans, are there any other things you’re looking forward to doing while in the States? Any places you guys wanna see or foods you wanna eat?

We want to see a NBA game for once. Any NBA game will do. And also, really want to meet Jennifer Lawrence.

After SXSW you have some other show dates right? Where are you guys gonna be?

March, 20th, Brick & Mortar Music hall, San Francisco, California

March, 25th, Pike Room @ Crofoot, Pontiac, Michigan

March, 29th, Marlin Room @ Webster Hall, New York, New York

March, 30th, Dorothy Betts, Marvin Theatre, Washington D.C

April, 4th, Tin Can Alehouse, San Diego, California

April, 6th, Seed Center, Los Angeles, California

(Not all schedule is confirmed.)

What are some of your future plans? Anything big in the works?

After we come back from the States we’ll release our new EP during August or September, but that’s just our wishful thinkin’- nothing’s prepared yet 🙂

I hope you all have a sick time! Anything special you want to say to fans before the tour starts?

It’s our first trip to the USA for all of our members and on top of that we get to perform there, so it’s even more special and exciting. We would like to meet as many people as possible, and hope that a lot people enjoy our shows. Our first studio album (released in October, 2013) is on sale, so please check it out!
