From when she was known as Cubic U!
Once upon a time, before she debuted in Japan, Utada Hikaru went by the name Cubic U (paying homage to her and her parent’s name, like Utada cubed) and released the album Precious. Here and There and Back Again is a rare track used in some of the album’s U.S. promotional copies, and it’s been thought to be a track that was lost forever. Someone randomly uploaded the track on Youtube early last month and now everyone’ s like OMGGGGG THIS IS SO RARE AND SPECIAL, with me being one of those people. It has an old school R&B sound appropriate for its time, and Utada sounds sooooo young. I barely recognize her voice!
