Singer-actor Wang Leehom is set to star in Magic Storm Entertainment’s adaptation of Stan Lee‘s Annihilator.
The film is a co-production between Magic Storm Entertainment, who partners with Lee’s Pow Entertainment banner and the Chinese state-run National Film Capital. ‘The Bourne Legacy’ scribe Dan Gilroy is penning the script
Based on the comicbook series, the story revolves around a young Chinese expatriate who must choose between remaining in prison or enlist in a secret U.S. super soldier program. After a grueling gauntlet of tests and experiments, he survives thanks to his extreme resolve, gained as a result of his family’s tradition of practicing Qijong and martial arts.
Pic is also being produced by Magic Storm Entertainment and Falconer Pictures.
He not only adds value to the character, but also appeals to a global audience and he has great passion for this particular role and film, Magic Storm CEO Eric Mika said in statement.
Leehom, who was born in New York, became a huge Chinese music star after entering a competition in Taiwan. He numbers more than 35 million followers on Chinese social media network Weibo and has appeared in films including Lust, Caution and Love in Disguise, which he also directed.
He is currently filming Michael Mann’s untitled cyber-terrorism film starring Chris Hemsworth. He is repped by Untitled Entertainment and UNEW.
