We had the awesome oportunity to interview Rock band Galaxy Express. The louder the music, the better!

Within an age of highly electro based Pop music, Galaxy Express have managed to retain a distinct and rugged Punk Rock sound. Foreign indie groups are starting to get way more attention now, and Galaxy Express is helping pave the way for other up and coming acts looking to venture into North America. Check out our mini-interview with them below, where we discuss topics from music inspiration to sleeping habits.

JUNGLE THE BLACK

So, let?s start off by having you all introduce yourselves

Jong-hyun: Hello, everybody!? We?re Galaxy Express from Seoul, Korea.
We are a trio.? I play guitar, Ju-hyun plays bass, and Hee-kwon plays
drums.? We like to play wild and loud rock ?n? roll and psychedelic
music.

This is your second time coming to the U.S. to perform which is
pretty awesome. How?s that feel?

Ju-hyun: We?re really excited- we can?t wait for the tour to start!
We toured North America last year and had so many great experiences
there.? We think this tour will be even better.? We?re playing more
gigs this time around and we?re excited to meet more people.? We plan
to add more of a Korean traditional psychedelic feeling to our sets.
We?re still going to be energetic, fun, and noisy, but we would like to show
a deeper side of our music this time around too.

I know that in Korea it?s hard for artists to become popular if
they don?t have a mainstream Kpop sound. You?ve performed in France,
Taiwan, Hong Kong and many other places. Tell us a little about the
Galaxy Express background- how?d you get to this point?

Jong-hyun: Ju-hyun and I started Galaxy Express in 2006. We both came
from punk bands, and wanted to make a new band that recaptured the
passion we felt when we first started playing music.? Having fun and
being able to do whatever we want is important to us. When we
recorded our first album, Noise on Fire, we tried to make it the
loudest Korean CD ever made.? All the levels on the studio console
were in the red and we kept asking the engineer to try and make it
even louder.? He kept asking us why we wanted to do such a thing.? For
our second album, Wild Days, we wrote, recorded, and released it in
only 30 days.? Both albums won music awards in Korea.

We always play with a lot of energy and passion during our concerts.
We love jumping off amps and doing crazy things; people seem to have
a lot to fun getting sweaty with us. We?ve played all over Korea in
clubs and at music festivals. We have been able to tour in France,
Taiwan, Hong Kong, Canada, the United States and Japan too.? It?s
been a fantastic music adventure for us so far!? We are so excited to
see what else we can do with our music.

Where Am I Going

Besides performing and making new fans, are there any other things
you?re looking forward to doing while in the States that you might not
have done the first time around?

Hee-kwon: Most of our shows on this tour will take place in Texas.
Last year we toured North America with two other Korean bands.? We
rented houses to stay at in most of the places we visited because
there were so many people on the tour.? I snore loudly, so they made
me sleep in the closet by myself in the houses.? This time I want a
bed to sleep in.? I wouldn?t mind finding a pretty Texas girl to
snuggle with too!

Ju-hyun: I want to make friends with some cowboys in Texas!

Lastly, what are the dates and cities for this U.S. tour?? Any
final comments for your fans and the readers?

Jong-hyun😕 Thanks so much for reading about Galaxy Express.? If we?re
playing where you live, please come and say ?hi.?? We love making new
friends and being able to share our music with different audiences.
If you?re a pretty girl or a cowboy, Hee-kwon and Ju-hyun will be
especially excited to meet you!
