T-ARA N4’s 1st American performance didn’t go over too well. Poor girls.
*I put this under the Cool Sh*z category not because I find it cool, quite the contrary, but because I want this to be featured so everyone can see it. We need to support T-ARA N4*

I’m honestly upset. This is not the kind of response I expected T-ARA N4 to receive. When I first heard news about their American schedules, performing with Chris Brown etc., I was so excited! I love the Kpop community and although it’s nice to be a small knit group I want Kpop, Asian music in general, to expand. This had the potential to be such a great thing for T-ARA N4’s career and it just backfired.
Much like everyone else, I agree that a Chris Brown concert was not the best placement for T-ARA N4. They performed a remixed version of Jeon Won Diary that was much slower paced and boring, and the fact that they were singing in Korean didn’t go over well at all with a crowd full of Chris Brown fans. Not only that, but their outfits were very revealing. By American standards they’re considered fully covered, but for a Korean girl group I can only imagine how uncomfortable they felt.
The fact that we can feel the awkward energy through the video just proves how unpleasant the situation was- the crowd seemed to be totally ignoring them. An actual fan was there and he explains the entire situation and honestly, it’ll break your heart (I’ll link to it below). As someone who’s been listening to Asian music and actively promoting it most of their life, even when I was the only one in my group of friends who cared or even knew about it, this kind of situation makes me terribly upset. These artists are such amazing talents and to see them looked down upon for something completely outside of their control is depressing. People are blaming CCM and, quite frankly, they’re right. T-ARA N4’s management/agency should have thought this out more?thoroughly?and saw that this wouldn’t be the right fit for them in any way, shape or form.
In closing, let’s support T-ARA N4 will all our might now. Not just to make them feel better and to encourage them to not give up on their global expansion, but also to give all Korean/Asian artists the encouragement to not look at this example as a reflection on the U.S. market and to stay strong and keep trying. I know a lot of people want Kpop to just stay in Korea, but a global expansion can take their careers and this entire movement to the next level. All these?artists?need is solid U.S. representation. An agency/management that can market them?appropriately?in America.
