Is?indisputably?CL, yet I’m feeling a bit let down

CL is here with her highly anticipated solo track, and it’s… good. Was I the only one that was expecting raw 2NE1 energy? Like something magnificent, explosive and heart pounding! The Baddest Female is very slow, sampling Dubstep sounds mixed in with it’s heavily Hip Hop influenced beat, but it’s not all that I thought it would be. Don’t get me wrong I like the track for what it is, but it’s not something I can turn all the way up, dance to, and be like “Yes! This is the power of CL!”. It’s more like that song you’d listen to and enjoy solely because it’s CL’s and she comes from that super trendy group 2NE1. If this was any other idols song, especially one that wasn’t on as high a tier as CL, I don’t think it would be as impressive to people.

The best part of The Baddest Female is definitely the music video. I read before the MV was released that there would be more than a?dozen?outfit changes and that some of her friends would be costarring, and I was hoping we’d see Mademoiselle Yulia. Well, my wish was granted because there she is, sporting the electric blue hair and working it right next to CL! Ahh, I loved seeing her. I loved this whole MV. It’s fun and sexy and totally has that “Boss B***c” vibe. I mean the song does too, just not the kind I wanted or was expecting I guess.

Overall I give this a 7/10, only because the track was a bit underwhelming. I mean we were getting exciting teaser photos and huge projector?advertisements on buildings?all for this slow, kind of boring track. And then the chorus has the nerve to start off all hype just to fall flat. Pshhh~ The visuals and concept are stellar though! What do you guys think of CL’s solo debut?

P.S. I didn’t mention this in the write up but CL looks soooo damn good~
