UK Grime has as many fans as it has naysayers, but Japan seems to be embracing the genre with open arms. Popular UK based music platform Boiler Room have decided to cover the Grime scene in Japan, talking to some of the country’s most popular Grime rappers, DJs and producers to learn more about the genre’s beginnings and how it’s evolving in the country. It’s exciting to see Japanese indie music covered by the West, and just as exciting to see Japan accept such a niche musical identity and make it their own.
