New anime?”Aku no Hana”?is pretty interesting, from it’s animation to it’s storyline.
Aku no Hana, or Flowers of Evil, is pretty interesting. I haven’t heard of it before therefore haven’t read the manga- I decided to check the anime out after hearing a lot of talk about it (it’s a new series).
The animation is really unique, using?rotoscope. I’m reading that a lot of people dislike this new way of animation, but I really dig it. The movement’s are super realistic- the only thing is the emotions can be kind of lacking in the character’s facial expressions.
The storyline for Aku no Hana is a bit funny as it plays on cliche Japanese school boy sh*z, but with a twist. The main protagonist has this obsessive crush over a popular girl in class and steals her gym clothes (which are like panties more or less) and brings them home. Lol. The one really odd chick in class is the only one that knows he stole them, and she basically blackmails to keep his secret. At least that’s how far we are as of right now (only 2 episodes are out at the moment). The student that’s blackmailing him, the one in the picture above, is badass, though. She’s kind of creepy and really adds edge to this series- without her Aku no Hana would probably be dry and tasteless.
Like I said I haven’t read the manga so I could be wrong, but the anime kind of comes off like it’s trying too hard to be deep with a story that doesn’t match up. I’m sitting here like “The f**k is that supposed to mean?” at certain parts, and that’s coming from a fan of obscure and esoteric films, novels and anime. Based off of episode 2 though I have a feeling the story’s going to pick up, so hopefully all of this supposed depth will be legitimatized. Honestly I’m really intrigued and can’t wait for episode 3! Aku no Hana has major potential!
