I’m absolutely in love with this single!
When I wrote about the lyric video I talked about what Play potentially meant for Taiwan’s mainstream music industry, and I’m happy to say that the MV is completely on the same level, if not beyond it. It’s bossy, sassy and very sexy all while being comical and cute, catering to Taiwan’s mainstream aesthetic. Everything about Play has been executed wonderfully- the goal for a Western inspired release that still satisfies the native audience has been achieved. Jolin Tsai has been steadily moving upwards for a minute now and I stay hyped for all the new stuff she hurls our way. Also I LOVE the multi-racial cast! Jolin is doing no wrongs right now!
